Blair Vs Regina; Who's Meaner?

Who of us doesn't know the famous book "Queen Bees & Wannabees"?, the book about bullying in schools, about mean girls and their dictatorship to make other girls their working bees.

The book that stood out in the early 2000, to make the Mean popular girl in school the main character in movies and TV shows, to warn parents about how their children can be influenced by those unhuman creatures.

I want to speak about my ultimate favourite on screen Queen Bees, that showed us how evil she really is to win it all. To be specific; Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl (2007), and Regina George from Mean Girls (2004).

In this blog, I'm going to be comparing those two characters to see who's meaner, and in all terms!

1)She LOVES attention:

It's a fact that a Queen Bee is always popular, and no one can top her reputation in school. She's the most talked about, everyone wants to have her taste in fashion, her boyfriend or even her squad.

 Now, according to attention Regina seems to care more about her reputation than Blair. The minute she knew Cady has a crush on Aron, she wanted him back right away! She can't stand the fact that Regina's ex boyfriend moved on and wants to be with a new girl. She loves attention! 

On the other hand, Blair found out that Nate cheated on her with her bestfriend Serena, and that broke her cold heart but she forgave him anyway. 

Because, both of them are THE couple and every reader of Gossip girl envies their relationship. She ditched her lifetime bestfriend, for a guy that barely cares for her, so she keeps the perfect picture of her, in the eyes of others.

Sorry Blair but Regina wins as the Queen of attention!

2)She gets what she wants:

Even if they seem to have it all, they still want more and more. Blair is known for her filthy tricks, blakmailing and inviting unwanted guests to other people's parties. I mean we get that you don't accept the fact that your dad is gay, but that doesn't mean you get to invite his boyfriend's ex boyfriend to your mum's christmas eve party! The embarrasement that her Dad felt towards her was a moment to glorify. I guess, she's not her daddy's little girl anymore. 

Moving on to Regina, the nerve she had when she put her picture in the Burn Book in order to play the victim in front of the school's principle to get away with what she did to the other students. 

However, she got hit by a bus and died, just kidding evil doesn't die so easily.

And in this round Blair wins hand down!

3)She sets the RULES:

These girls are named Queen Bees for a reason, they have others to back them. They rule others and set the rules in school. it's not easy to be part of the plastics or even a friend of Blair! Let's look at Blair first she made Jenny do a truth or dare bet and made her kiss a random guy in a bar, while she's underage 14 years old only! And let's not forget how she humiliates her for not being wealthy or rich like her and the rest of the squad, and ruined her school life. Poor jenny, she only wanted to be liked by B, little did she know, it's hard to make friends with the devil. 

Besides, Regina George and the plastics had many rules; They only wear pink on wednesdays, they put their hair up once a week, they can't date theplastics ex boyfriends or even buy a piece of clothing of their choice. Regina is pretty strict when it comes to rules, they make others even more jealous of her squad!

Sorry B but regina wins this time.

4)She talks behind your BACK:

Every toxic person talks behind people's backs, but when it comes to Queen Bees they level up the whole gossiping thing so much that it becomes the center of their lives. You know how high school can revolve about love, friends, sexe, bullying and many other things. 

Regina, the toxic she is has only Cady, Karen and Gretchen as her well let's call them her friends, who keep her secrets, shop with her and got her back. But, Regina seems to talk behind Gretchen's back when she was nominated fro spring fling queen and told everyone that she doesn't deserve to be nominated. Called her annoying on the phone with karen and ditched her in most of their hang outs as well quoted "Driving her nutts"!. I mean the nerve she has to talk like that about her friends! So toxic! 

Now, Blair is no better than Regina she talks bad behind everyone's back including her own bestfriend Serena. I mean she accused her of lying about being a drug addict and rehab without knowing the actual truth, and hurt her in front of everyone in school including Serena's brother! And it was posted on Gossip Girl too!

Sorry Regina but Blair takes the crown this time!

5)She SLUT shames her friends:

Now I still remember Tina Fey's line in mean girls "You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores! It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores". 

Regina called many girls in school,that name, but she dared to call her own friend Karen a slut, for no reason ! And many times as well. 

After, finding out about Nate's cheating with Serena she slut shamed her friend and put all the blame on her. Called her a liar and a whore for sleeping with and didn't give her the right to explain herself for  it. Of course she made it even easier for eveyone to call her that as well and ruin her life.

And Blair wins over Regina this time too!

Wow I didn't see this coming, we have a winner ladies and gentleman ! And the crown goes to miss Blair Waldorf! As the meanest Queen bee I have ever wintenessed in my life!

So, this blog was fun to make I made a lot of researches and watched a lot of Gossip Girl episodes and rewatched Mean Girls only to make sure that Queen Bee is a myth put outhere to be careful about!

Emily in Paris : A Review 👍👎

 Lately, Netflix has dropped a new series called "Emily in Paris" and everyone has been talking about it nonstop. So, after I saw a lot of social media buzz about it, I decided to see it myself, and review it in my blog. Like a lot of people thought about this series, there are some hits and misses. To be specific what I liked and disliked about it.

What I liked about it 👍:

1- The Fashion:

Now we can all agree on the fact that Lilly Collins served some pretty good looks in this show. And to be specific I have noticed a lot of  Chanel pieces in her closet, and how she tries to make it stand out in her outfit. Whether it is an office look, a street look or even a sports chic look.

My first favourite look have to be the Miller Dickey Jacket and Crito shoes in the 3rd episode "Sexy or Sexist" accessorized with the gorgeous Chanel Black Lambskin Imitation Pearl & Gold-Tone Metal Flap Bag, and the shoes were a soval ankle strap pumps  from Christian Louboutin.

The second look from the episode 5 "Faux Amis" is the gorgeous green Chanel resort 2020 jacket along with a Brandy Melville cara skirt, the accessories in my opinion made the look stand out even more.

 A Kangol headwear plaid on plaid bucket hat , a cute  Staud mini bissett bag and let's not forget about the Chanel earrings.

Now the last and most favourite look from the episode 4 "A Kiss Is Just A Kiss", an Asos crop top and beautiful hot pink Kenzo wool and cashmere coat and my heart stopped when I saw the Chanel flap bag with a coin purse in the colour caramel.

2- The Shots in Paris:                        

What I liked about the show more is the beautiful location "Paris", they were able to picture multiple breathtaking sights like "La scène", "La Tour Eiffel", "Musée du Louvre" and many more. They both showed us the city side from modern restaurants to boutiques...

As well as the country side from wine factories to the magnificent farms.

3- The French food:

Since Emily moved to Paris it's a perfect opportunity for her to try French food, and let me tell you something once you try it you'll fall in love with it immediatly. From the patisserie dow her apartment where she tried "Le pain au chocolat", to the "Crépe" at night in the streets of Paris.

Gabriel, her neighbor turned out to be a chef in a very parisian restaurant in her neighborhood as well. She tried a beautiful medieum rare stake or "Filet", and let's not forget about the cafés where she and her friend Mindy visited where they had a noon breakfast wine. 

The food in my opinion represents French culture in many ways, that's why it played a huge role in the show as they showed us that food means; Love, friends, self-discovery...

What I hated about it 👎:

The Fake Paris:

Sadly, Paris is way darker than what the show is about. Every city has it it's bright and dark side but Emily in Paris only pictured happy Paris. That's not the reality, the bigger the city was the problems in it were. Paris is known for the dog poop on the sidewalk and pickpockets taking your wallets on the metro.

When it comes to finding a job in Paris, Emily got lucky her job was waiting for her. But, in reality it's really hard to break into their fields, even with fluent french. Don't underestimate how competitive the expact job market is in Paris. Every single Parisian resident hates dealing with the bureaucracy. Sometimes, you go wait five hours and you're told that you need to go to another office by a civil servant who critisizes your French on your first day in France.

Real paris is expensive, you can't go out to lovely restaurants every day like Emily. The city is still so instagrammable, but instagram isn't always pretty behind the scenes.

Emily on Rose:

Emily came to Paris for one reason "Love", just like Carrie in sex and the city when she first came to NYC. The purpose is common but the ways to get to it are different. Carrie chose to fall in love, but not to put it above her self-development. Emily on the other side, seems confused about romance in her life we see her shagging French guys for no reason, just because she's in Paris. 

Emily doesn't represent the independent woman in a full picture. Independence means claiming freedom to be who you truly are, and live how you choose. The independent woman myth, in the sex and city is backed by external support , focusing more on female friendship and its ability to sustain and support. Mindy, Emily's friend doesn't seem to encourage her to make the right choices, she's rebel immature and wild. That's not what you need as a motivation, especially in a foreign country.

The Female Lead:

I wish that Emily was potrayed as a strong female lead in the show, her character is a combination of clumsy girly bubbly, stupid and a naive person. Who said clumsy and naive girls, can't be smart and successful? Emily lacks attentivenss and charisma, and in 2020 to see a typical 2000 rom-com lead is beyond me. 

I mean even the 2000 female leads, were more powerful than Emily. Look at Samantha Jones from sex and the city, she knows what she wants in her life, successful in her career and have great friends. She loves her indepence by being financially,emotionally and sexually independant, as she believes that men are an accessory not a necessity.

Fashion Themed : Brands Muses

 I've been fond of the Fashion industry for a really long time and movies like The Devil Wears Prada and Confessions Of a Shoppaholic made me realize many things...

That Fashion is not just about clothes or glamour it's more than that, it turned out to be a billion dollar buisness from new collections or magazines deals and especially collaborations whether it was with other brands, celebrities or even fashion bloggers.

Lately, I have been doing some researches about fashion collaborations and I found the topic really interesting that these collaborations are not onnly for celebrities but fashion bloggers and even Instagram influencers these days can have the chance to collaborate with their favourite household brnads like Chanel, Dior and even Dolce & Gabbana.
 The benefits of being a brand ambassador are multiple like getting invited to Fashion weeks, recieveing free fashion pieces from that brand and even being feautured in their new collections.

In this blog I'll be listing my favourite brands Ambassadors from events to streetstyle and even Fashion shows both celebrities and fashion bloggers that I find very suitable for the brand.

Taylor Hill/ Michael Kors:

All of us know Taylor Hill she's a victoria secret model and the face of Lancôme. But her collaboration with Michael Kors, he was the one who dicovered her when she was only 15 years old. He made her live her dream 

He says:  

When I look at Taylor, she is the bombshell next door. She is sexy but sporty. She’s full of optimism. She’s nice to work with, and she is obviously very beautiful.

For me her face and her features to be exact fit Michael Kors perfectly, from bags collections to watches. I believe he did an amazing choice picking her as the face of the brand.

Emilia Clarke/ Dolce & Gabbana:

Now we can all agree that the actress Emilia Clarke is not a size zero which makes this collaboration more interesting. She was the face of the Perfume collection "The Only One". She's the perfect choice her face, her smile and her character and everything else.

She managed also to represent this brand in many other events like; Movie premieres and magazine covers and even other fashion events.

I love this collaboration and I believe many other fashion crtitcs can agree especially after her incredible 2018 Met Gala look along with the futuristic makeup and the beautiful Dolce & Gabbana gown and everyone can agree that the headpiece made the look even better.

Dakota Jhonson/ Gucci:

Lately I have noticed that Dakota Jhonson has been wearing a lot of Gucci pieces from bags to shoes and even clothing. And it turned out to be a publicity for a new fragrance "Gucci Bloom". Which was a huge success for the house of Gucci. 

Dakota Jhonson has managed to show Gucci as a very delicate and simple brand , the side we don't get to see that much from it. The dresses she was able to show, feminine softness and elegance! 

All of us can agree over her etheral Gucci gown encrusted with crystals and David Webb jewels to the premiere of Bad Times at the El Royale in L.A.

Also her black velvet column with a jeweled buckle and glittery skirt overlay, plus Nirav Modi jewerly at the Golden Globes Awards. 

Blake Lively/ Versace:

Whether you are a Gossip Girl or not we can all agree that Blake Lively has such a glamourus taste in fashion, streetstyle or red carpet she always manages to keep her fashion game up high.

I know that a lot of people can agree that she doesn't promote a specific designer or a brand, but I have been fond of her Versace looks.We got to see Jlo represents the brand as sexy and exotic, Gigi Hadid as Soft girl crush... but she amazingly shows the fierce yet the classy side of Versace and that's what I adore about her style.

She wore a silver hatter dress with high-low pleated skirt and a low-cut back, praised with her sparkly Christian Louboutin pumps at the Versace Pre-Fall 2019 Fashion show in N.Y.C.

The Gold-and-ruby brocade and beaded Atelier Versace gown with attached skirt. 

Let's not forget her Afterparty outfit; a white button down shirt and plaid miniskirt teamed with a matching jacket and boots.

So this blog came to an end, I enjoyed talking about this topic a lot and I'll deffiently do a second part because I couldn't envolve all the designers and fashion ambassadors in one single blog.
