RomComs changed my life and here's why:
"Sometimes you just love a person just because they feel like home."
— Bridget Jones
Since I was a little girl RomComs have been my favourite genre of movies, they're more of a guilty pleasure of mine. I remember when I used to run as fast as I can to get early from school, to catch
a movie where the guy comes to the airport at the last minute and confesses or the girl ruins his wedding and run away with to get married in a boat at the middle of the sea.
This genre of movies took a huge part of my life and indeed taught me a valuable life lessons, and made who Iam today, many people think it's cheesy and predictable but sadly that's whats makes the way it is.
So in this blog, I'll be talking about how RomComs encourage "Women Empowerment" and always calls for their independance. Since today it's National women's day I thought it will be a perfect opportunity to write about it.
Sadly we live in a world controlled by apperances, everyone wants to dress according to the newest fashion trends, or the newest hairstyles or even your lifestyle. However , Kate Strawford from "10 Things I hate about You" never tried to follow others, she was always unique in her own way. Kat is the girl, that reads Simone De Bouvoir and disses Hemingway, she listens to Hard Indian Girl Rock bands, adores giving straight and honest opinons in front of her teachers and never fears detention.
Despite the fact that her younger sister Bianca is so popular, she tries to avoid it all the time, she wants to go beyond people's expectations.
I think we all know the sad story of Cinderella, the poor little girl who lost both her parents and had to obey the orders of her stepmother and sisters. Well one of my favourite romcoms " A Cinderella Story" brings out the story in a modern way, Sam is a brilliant student, whos dream is to join Princeton but had to work her ass off at the diner to gain money. Her stepmother Fiona decides what Sam has to do, calls her ugly and stupid and even prevents her from going to the hlloween party to meet the only boy she ever liked.
So Sam finally decides to make a move so she quits her work, gets out of the house and tells Fiona to give her back all the years she took from her, she also faces Austin and tells him that he's mature enough to choose what to do with his future. We love a BOSSY LADY!!!
Well well well of course I'm gonna mention Cher and her powerful character in "Clueless". This 90's Icon is only famous for her brillilant fashion choices, but for me she was an independant young lady, that feels responsible of other people's lame lives, her character was inspired by Jane Austen's Emma. Emma, was always trying to make everyone happy but herself. Cher is the popular girl in her high school, but she uses her popularity to do good deeds. A new girl came to her high school, Tai seemed clueless, so Cher felt like she needs to guide her and do a makeover to her.
Little did she know, Cher realized that her help turned out to be against her, she finally saw that trying to fix other people's lives won't make yours any better, you don't have to feel sorry for other's failures or bad choices. As women, we need to focus on our own lives and try to live it to the fullest!

- YOUR JOB IS YOUR FIRST PRIORITY:
*The Devil Wears Prada*
In the world of romcoms the girl has her dream job, a journalist in a big major fashion magazine or a news reporter in one of the biggest channels in the country. But, suddenly she meets him and her work life gets delayed, luckily thats not the case in "The Devil Wears Prada" Andy is an ambitions person, who will do anything for her job to get to the position she always dreamt of. Working as an assistant of the dragon Lady made her realize that het job is her first priority, even though made her sacrifice her love life, her friends and even her family. Andy is the ideal example of the person who will risk it all for the sake of her career.
As we see in Romcoms, the girl appears perfect and has no flaws. But sadly, that's not the case For "Bridget Jones" she's 30, single, hates her job and hates her body. Bridget throughout the movie tried to make News Year's Resolution by quitting smoking, trying to have a boyfriend and losing weight. However, Mark Darcy tells her that he likes her just the way she is. Suddenly she realizes that if someone could like you for who you are , why wouldn't you do that YOURSELF?
I mean it's okay to be over weight we all love to eat! And surely it is fine to not have a boyfriend because it's just not that easy. Life is not a piece of cake, you can't have it all. Try to accept your reality and stop trying to achieve perfection.

- BUILD YOUR OWN PERSONALITY :
*10 Things I Hate About You*
Sadly we live in a world controlled by apperances, everyone wants to dress according to the newest fashion trends, or the newest hairstyles or even your lifestyle. - CONTROL YOUR OWN LIFE :
*A Cinderella Story*
I think we all know the sad story of Cinderella, the poor little girl who lost both her parents and had to obey the orders of her stepmother and sisters. Well one of my favourite romcoms " A Cinderella Story" brings out the story in a modern way, Sam is a brilliant student, whos dream is to join Princeton but had to work her ass off at the diner to gain money. - DON'T FEEL RESPONSIBLE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S FAILURE:
*Clueless*
Well well well of course I'm gonna mention Cher and her powerful character in "Clueless". This 90's Icon is only famous for her brillilant fashion choices, but for me she was an independant young lady, that feels responsible of other people's lame lives, her character was inspired by Jane Austen's Emma. - KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE, AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER:
*13 Going On 30*
As we all know, it could get really competing when it comes to your collegues.Well , in the case of Jenna Rink in "13 Going On 30", the friend she thought she had the closest hated her and always jealous of her success. Jenna is a 30 year old lady, whos successful at her job, has the perfect Manhattan apartment and a georgeous physique.
Sadly, the friend she thought she had, was a selfish person who's always been jealous of. So Jenna turned her weakness into a strangth and done an amazing project in order to save the future of her magazine.
Jenna tought me that you should always think twice when it comes to your career, you never know those who you thought they were your friends are actually the people who want to see you fail.
- PROVE THEM WRONG:
*Legally Blonde*
Not all blondes are dumb in the case of Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde" a barbie popular girl was the
president of her serority imposes herself into a whole new field ( law ) from what she used to be in . Well after changing her thoughts she goes to Harvard to study Law to get her ex boyfriend back .
She finally realized he wasn't worth it so she took a decision ; and continued her life in a new way and became the most successful lawyer that could ever be.
