Underrated Indian Movies πŸ€”

We all know when it comes to bollywood movies, the lead has to be one of the 3 Khans or one of the biggest production companies like T series, Yash Raj or even Dharma productions. There are many underrated Hindi films, due to the bad promotions or the loss in the box office.
The Don't You Dare: The 12 Most Important GIFs Of Salman Taking His Shirt Off

Sometimes the film gets a good rate at the Imbd but sadly it doesn't get the hype as commercial movies; Such as Chennai Express, Sultan or even the Dhoom series.
I love bollywood and I know that a good movie doesn't necessarly need a SRK as the main lead or Yash chopra as a director to be successful.
In this blog I'm going to list my top underrated Bollywood movies that you must watch immediatly .

1) Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017):

The story follows Set in the small-town of Bareilly, Bitti is a free-spirited young girl who lives life on her own terms and refuses to be pressured into getting married. Her life takes a shift when she meets Chirag Dubey and Pritam Vidrohi.

I'm not a big fan of Kriti Sanon, but I loved her as Bitti Sharma; she nailed the role, the accent, her interaction with the rest of the cast. She broke the traditional picture of the shy indian girl, that never dated, virgin and predictable.
This movie is underrated I don't know why, the storyline is amazing, along with the cast, and the movie album makes it even better. I recommend this movie so much, it's funny romantic and dramatic.

2)Special 26 (2013):

Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Kajal Aggarwal in Special Chabbis (2013)
Based on real life incidents that occurred in India in 1987-88, the storyline revolves around a group of con artists who pulled off many clever robberies during 1980s, and robbed famous businessmen and politicians by pretending to be the CBI or Income tax officers and conducting raids. On the pretext of conducting raids they would take away all the black money hoarded by them.

Now this movie is underaated for some reason, it doesn't make a sense to me. It's so perfect, and Akshay's performance as Ajay along with Anupan Kher as Sharma Ji; This duo is beyond amazing. The plot twist in the film, is unpredictable, it blew me away. You must add it to your movie list immediatly!

3)Love Aaj Kal (2009):

Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal (2009)

London-based Jai Vardhan Singh and Meera Pandit meet, fall in love, and she introduces him to her family. Shortly thereafter, they decide to part as she wants to re-locate to India to restore heritage buildings, while he re-locates to America. Restauranteur Veer Singh attempts to convince Jai to pursue her, as he had pursued Harleen Kaur back in 1965 India, but Jai moves on and falls in love with Caucasian Jo, while Meera is all set to get marry her employer, Vikram Joshi.

The movie mainly focuses on critisizing our daily life routine, and of course nowadays relationships that became mainly lame and lost the spark. I loved Seif Ali Khan in both roles, I thought he nailed being the cool wommanizer as Veer, and the shy responsible punjabi guy as Jai Vardhan.
This film is underrated, it doesn't have much hype around it as it should has, the plot twist in the movie is unexpected and Deepika's performance makes it even better.

4)Photograph (2019):

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in Photograph (2019)

Two lives intersect in Mumbai and go along together. A struggling street photographer, pressured to marry by his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancΓ©e. The pair develops a connection that transforms them in ways that they could not expect.
This movie came out last year, and no one have heard of it, it's so underrated!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in Photograph (2019)

The film was as simple as you can ever imagine, it's very realistic as well. The age gap between the leads didn't bother me at all. This is one of the few movies which will be with me for a loooong time. This movie leaves you speechless when it comes to all the sections of it whether it is story , acting by the person who has least amount of screen time, background music, use of Mumbai locations which are unseen by many non Mumbai people and use of silence when required. You must give this movie a chance and see it!

5)Ranjhaana (2013):

The pundit's son Kundan (Dhanush) has fallen for the girl at first sight. That they're both kids makes us dismiss it as a meaningless crush. But a few years later, the boy is still in love with the girl, Zoya (Sonam Kapoor). When she's in school, he follows her around holding her hand and getting slapped in the process. Finally, she relents because of his "consistency". The film shifts cities when Zoya gets into JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University), and through her, we are introduced to the idealistic and political culture of the place. She discovers a long-lost strength as she confronts and then falls for student leader Akram (Abhay Deol). The film takes a turn when Zoya returns to her hometown after eight long years only to find some things changed, and others surprisingly the same.

Raanjhanaa (2013)

This movie is a remake, I didn't see the first one but I loved this version so much, I enjoyed Dhanush's performance as Kundan, Dhanush who had earlier wooed the South Indian audience with his acting skills, chose a script tailor made for him to launch himself into Bollywood. The movie, doesn't disappoint those who enjoyed the stories where love stands above everything else in life. To top it all, when you have ARR weaving his magic with some sublime music, the beauty of Banaras just comes alive in front of your eyes.
I don't want to spoil anything on you, but get your tissues ready for the end.
